Vermont Pot Bill Passes House, Headed to Gov. Scott

The Vermont House this afternoon voted to legalize possession of small amounts of marijuana, sending the Senate-backed bill to Republican Gov. Phil Scott.

If Scott decides to sign the bill, Vermont would become the first state to legalize recreational marijuana through its legislature. Eight states and the District of Columbia have legalized small amounts of marijuana for adult recreational use through voter initiatives, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
