Cornish — A rented box truck hit the Cornish-Windsor Covered Bridge on Tuesday, New Hampshire transportation officials said.

The accident, which caused only minor damage, came just weeks after the bridge was hit by another box truck in July.

“In a clearly disturbing sequence, a New Hampshire Covered Bridge has once again been struck and damaged by a vehicle,” the New Hampshire Department of Transportation said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.

After the accident, state bridge inspectors found that the damage was non-structural and limited to the façade of the entrance to the bridge on the New Hampshire side, DOT spokesman Bill Boynton said. It is open to traffic.

The state has recorded four covered bridge strikes this summer, including the two at the Cornish-Windsor bridge and two at the Honeymoon Covered Bridge in Jackson.

DOT had no further information about Tuesday’s incident, Boynton said, and a phone call to the Cornish Police Department wasn’t immediately returned.
