NEWPORT — Prosecutors have dropped criminal charges against one of four men accused in a vandalism spree across Sullivan County last fall that shocked the community with racial slurs and obscenities spray painted on private property.

Prosecutors dropped all charges against Zachery Fuller, of Newport, after the court ruled him not competent to stand trial, according to court documents.

Fuller, 30, had been charged with 10 felony and misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief in the series of vandalism attacks in Newport, Croydon and Claremont. The attacks included defacing private property with spray paint and causing an estimated $100,000 in damages to Newport school buses as well as vehicles at a car dealership.

Court records show that a motion to determine Fuller’s competency had been filed in February and a competency evaluation report was submitted under seal to the court in April. New Hampshire Superior Court Judge Martin Honigberg ruled Fuller incompetent to stand trial on May 2, according to court records.

Criminal mischief charges against the three other co-defendants in the vandalism spree remain pending.
