Kids are pretty incredible. I think that’s something we as a community have always collectively known, but don’t always acknowledge.

This edition of Valley Parents has the theme of “Kids Making a Difference” and focuses on youth in the Upper Valley who are serving their communities in a variety of ways.

In Woodstock, Change the World Kids volunteers made hundreds of gallons of soup to deliver during the coldest months of the COVID-19 pandemic. In Hanover, Youth in Action students helped remove invasive species on Earth Day. In Thetford, a Thetford Academy junior worked with WISE to raise awareness about gender-based violence. Two youth raised funds and donated gifts to the Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth. Randolph Union High School students have worked on social justice programs in their communities. Students at Indian River Middle School in West Canaan made cards for senior citizens in the Mascoma Valley.

We recognize that this is only a sample of the amazing work youth are doing throughout the Upper Valley. Kids truly have the ability to make a difference in their communities.
