WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation is seeking volunteers to maintain trails in Orange County.

Trail maintainers assess trail conditions, document maintenance needs and report to the district’s recreation staff. Volunteers are asked to visit their trail at least twice a season in the spring and fall.

The department will provide training on maintenance activities such as erosion control and trail blazing for volunteers who wish to perform hands-on trail work.

Prior trail maintenance experience is not required. Those interested should contact Jesse Hoover, Regional Trails Coordinator at D4trails@vermont.gov.
