The Fairlee Public Library and North Haverhill’s Patten Library have earned $2,500 rural library grants from the Children’s Literacy Foundation.

The two libraries are among 12 smaller libraries throughout the Twin States that will get funding for new children’s books for both town and school libraries, as well as books for area kids to keep, according to a news release from the Waterbury Center, Vt.-based nonprofit organization. There will also be two visits from storytellers and money to put toward library family programs.

“Libraries are a vital community resource, and a big part of this grant is about helping children and the adults in their lives become better acquainted with all that their local library has to offer,” CLiF Executive Director Laura Rice said in the release.
