Claremont — The United Valley Interfaith Project, a collaboration of 15 faith communities from the Upper Valley, will honor volunteers from local congregations during its sixth annual Micah celebration.
The event will be held Nov. 12, beginning at 2 p.m., at the Claremont Senior Center, 5 Acer Heights Road.
During the ceremony, 13 faith organizations will honor a person from their congregations who they feel deserves recognition.
This year the celebration will acknowledge the work of a diverse group, from a man who has led nonprofits in the Upper Valley to a woman who spent decades doing missionary work in Asia.
Honorees will be introduced by a member of their congregations and then will speak about their work.
“We start hearing these stories one after the next,” said Karen Summer, second vice president of the United Valley Interfaith Project, in a telephone interview.
“By the time you get 26 people talking about wonderful activities that are done for the purpose of building community spirit and doing something for others, the mood in the room becomes elevated. It’s hours of great human interest stories.”
Tickets are $30 and should be purchased in advance, as the event is expected to sell out.
