LEBANON — Municipal employees in Lebanon and Hanover are assessing the damage on Stevens Road after flash flooding earlier in the week washed away road materials, causing surfaces to collapse.
The road, which connects Hanover to Lebanon, is currently closed to through traffic on the Lebanon side as Public Works Department employees replace failed culverts and lay new soil and gravel on about 1,500 feet of eroded banks and road. The damage resulted from flooding on Wednesday.
Deputy City Manager of Public Works Nik Coates said the road could be reopened to through traffic by Monday evening,
In Hanover, Wednesday’s flooding impacted about 1,000 feet of the roadway near the intersection with Etna Road. Public Works employees on Friday were were laying down new road materials to prevent the risk of further erosion.
The road in Hanover remains open, but traffic has been reduced to a single, alternating lane.
