WOODSTOCK — Town staff and members of the Woodstock Selectboard will be holding recurring weekly meetings to discuss their proposal to purchase the Woodstock Aqueduct Co.
The Selectboard and Municipal Manager Eric Duffy announced a two-step plan to acquire the privately held water system at a Sept. 23 meeting.
The proposed plan involves two votes.
In the first, which is slated for Oct. 29 at 6 p.m., residents will decide whether they would like the town to buy the company.
In the second, residents will decide whether they want the town to buy the Vondell Reservoir and which capital improvement projects will move forward to improve the water system and align with state standards. The second vote would happen in December if residents approve the purchase.
At the Sept. 23 meeting, Duffy said the second vote is necessary so that residents have enough time to learn about the proposed projects and form an opinion.
To that end, Duffy, Woodstock Chief of Staff Stephanie Appelfeller and members of the Selectboard are holding public meetings through the week of Dec. 10. At these meetings, residents can talk to municipal officials, ask questions and learn about the proposed projects.
■On Mondays, meetings will be at 9 a.m. at the South Woodstock Country Store.
