Thetford Town Meeting preview

Articles of note: An article on the town warning asks whether voters will pledge “to join others in working to end support to Israel’s Apartheid system, settler colonialism, and military occupation.”

Contested races: There are no contested races for Selectboard or School Board this year.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed general fund budget is $1.96 million, of which $1.49 million is to come from taxes. The proposed Department of Public Works budget is $1.65 million, of which $1.47 million is to come from taxes. Last year, voters approved a general fund budget of $2.4 million and a public works budget of $1.5 million. The proposed school budget is $10.4 million, which is up from last year’s $10.1 million school budget.

When, where and how to vote: Town Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, at 9 a.m., in the multipurpose room at Thetford Elementary School. The School District annual meeting will take place after town meeting. Australian ballot voting for officers and the school budget will take place on Tuesday, March 4, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Thetford Town Hall, 3910 Vt. Route 113.
