Town Meeting preview: Tri-Town Commission representation before Thetford voters

Article of note: One article on the town warning asks whether voters want to reduce the number of Thetford’s representatives on the Tri-Town Commission, which is responsible for the operation and management of the Lake Fairlee Dam, from three to two.

Contested races: There are no contested races.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed general fund budget is $1.77 million, of which $1.33 million is slated to come from taxes. The proposed highway budget is $1.54 million, of which $1.31 million is slated to come from taxes. The proposed school district budget is $9.34 million. Last year, voters approved a $1.7 million general fund budget, a $1.4 million highway fund budget and a nearly $8.8 million school budget, according to Valley News reporting at the time.

When, where and how to vote: Thetford is scheduled to hold a school district public information meeting on March 4 at 9 a.m. and its Town Meeting at 10 a.m. in the multi-purpose room of Thetford Elementary School. Australian ballot voting on town and school officers and the school budget will take place on March 7 from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Thetford Town Hall, 3910 VT Route 113.
