SHARON — The Sharon Academy high school canceled classes on Tuesday and Wednesday, “due to a high number of staff absences at the high school,” according to messages posted Tuesday to the school’s website and social media.
The closing came just a few days after the high school held its prom on Saturday. The middle school was unaffected by the announcement.
The school said it would let families know via robocall on Wednesday night about whether the high school would resume classes on Thursday.
Last week, The Lyme School was open just one day out of five due to illness and absences. Thetford Academy also was closed on Friday, due to staffing issues.
The closures come as levels of COVID-19 in the community are “high,” taking into account cases and hospitalizations, throughout the Upper Valley, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
