Town Meeting preview: Selection of a municipal flag among 41 articles on Sunapee’s ballot

Article of note: There are 41 articles on the town ballot. One of them asks whether voters would support beginning the process of selecting a municipal flag to be flown over public buildings and recreational areas in town.

Contested races: Three people are running for two three-year terms on the School Board: Edward Andersen, Laura Piazza Herd and Amanda Spears.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed school budget is $14.1 million, which is up from last year’s budget of $13.2 million. Other money articles on the school warrant include: $25,000 for upgrading HVAC systems at Sunapee Middle High School; $75,000 for fields, playgrounds and parking improvements at school facilities; and $75,000 for upgrading educational spaces at Sunapee Central Elementary School. The proposed town budget is $9.5 million, which is up from $8.9 million last year. Another article asks whether voters support a bond for the first phase of the installation of new water mains for a cost of $2.1 million.

When, where and how to vote: Sunapee is scheduled to hold ballot voting on Tuesday, March 14 at the Sherburne Gymnasium from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
