Summer Guide: Get Out and Gather Food, Flowers

  • Twins Adysan Vire, left, and Talia Vire, 10, of Claremont, N.H., walk through The Song Garden in Cornish, N.H. on Sept. 1, 2016. The garden is a pick-your-own flower garden. The girls were visiting for the second time with their family. When they visit the whole family likes to dress up. (Valley News - Jennifer Hauck) Copyright Valley News. Summer once again provides a bounty of produce to the Upper Valley. In addition to selling that produce at farm stands and farmers markets, many area producers invite the public to their farm to pick it themselves.

Particularly popular among families, a pick-your-own outing is a great way to spend a summer afternoon, and later make favorite summer treats.

Be sure to call or check individual farm’s websites to find out which crops are available, and when.
