While listening to a meditation on her phone and reading an old Life magazine on the Kilton Library lawn in West Lebanon, N.H., on Monday, May 6, 2024, Kimberly Parla, of Hartland, sits thinking of her mother, Melanie Bleazard, who died last year of pancreatic cancer. “I’m just going through the grieving process and enjoying the spring,” said Parla. She described Bleazard, who was a registered nurse, as, “an exceptional mother, an exceptional nana, and an exceptional woman all around.” Parla, a former nursing assistant, cared for her mother while she was in hospice. “She lived a really good life,” said Parla.
