CLAREMONT — City Councilor Spencer Batchelder has resigned his position.

Batchelder said in a text on Monday that graduate school and work do not allow him enough time to devote to city government. He also serves on the council’s Policy Committee and is the council representative on the Conservation Commission.

Batchelder was appointed to the council in 2022 and ran uncontested for the Ward II seat last November.
