Rivendell Academy freshman Nolan Bourn has been selected as a delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders, which is scheduled to take place from June 26 to 28 at the University of Massachusetts Lowell campus.
“The Congress is an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields,” according to a news release. “The purpose of this event is to honor, inspire, motivate and direct the top students in the country interested in these careers, to stay true to their dream and, after the event, to provide a path, plan and resources to help them reach their goal.”
Iris Freitag, of Tunbridge, tied for third place for her illustration of a brook trout in K-3 category of the 2024 Vermont Student Fish Art Contest.
LEBANON — Lebanon High School senior Titus Billings has been selected as Lebanon’s student of the month for April.
Billings has been “pivotal” in supporting and expanding the high school’s Unified basketball team, according to a news release from the Lebanon School District. Billings is a neurotypical partner and leader on the team who supports other athletes.
“He is a leader who demonstrates kindness and compassion to his teammates,” according to the release. “After the basketball season ended, Titus carried his role as a partner player off the court and into the everyday lives of his unified teammates. He showed them that he cared and that they were valued.”
CLAREMONT — Students who are registered for the fall semester at any of New Hampshire’s seven community colleges will have an opportunity to take two summer classes for free.
The program, titled “Summer on Us,” is available at River Valley Community College in Claremont. Students must be enrolled in at least nine credits for the fall semester, as well as have completed the federal financial aid form, known as the FASFA, according to a news release from the Community College System of New Hampshire. Students can also use the two summer classes to complete an academic degree or certificate program that they’re already enrolled in.

“The program is designed for students who want to jump start their coursework or accelerate their education as they work towards a degree or certificate,” according to the release. “New students who want to take advantage of free summer courses, current students who will use the summertime to get ahead or complete an educational program, and others who are considering starting or re-entering college can benefit from this program.”

NEW LONDON — Peter White, who has been serving as the interim dean of Colby-Sawyer College’s School of Nursing & Health Sciences, has had the interim removed from his title.
White was hired as a biology faculty member at Colby-Sawyer since 2001, according to a news release from the New London-based college. He was named interim dean in January and “was unanimously recommended by SNHS faculty and staff to continue as dean,” Academic Vice President and Dean of Faculty Eden Wales Freedman said in the release.
