Town Meeting preview: Adoption of town manager form of government on Royalton's ballot

Articles of note: Voters will be asked whether to adopt a town manager form of government, whether to eliminate the position of constable and whether to disapprove an ordinance regulating all-terrain vehicles that was adopted in December.

Contested races: Three people are facing off for a single two-year seat on the Selectboard: Kate George, Timothy Murphy and Marc Preston.

Budgets and spending articles: Voters will be asked to support a general fund budget of $1.78 million, of which $1.4 million is slated to come from taxes. They also will be asked for a highway fund budget of $1.1 million, of which $850,000 would come from taxes. Both budgets are up from last year, when voters approved a $1.45 million general fund budget and a $1.03 million highway budget.

When, where and how to vote: Royalton's Town Meeting Australian ballot voting is scheduled to take place in the gymnasium of the White River Valley School, 223 S. Windsor St., on March 7 from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m.
