South Royalton, Vt. — Ronald G. Gadway, DO, of South Royalton, long time physician in this area, went to sleep in the arms of Jesus while surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018, in Lebanon, N.H.

Dr. Gadway was born May 25, 1930, in Dannemora, N.Y., the first child of Orville and Freda Bruso Gadway.

Dr. Gadway came to South Royalton in 1961 and set up his practice on the first floor of their home. He was on the staff of Gifford Memorial Hospital for many years and established a clinic, Medical Associates, in Bethel, Vt.

Dr. Gadway was a man who touched thousands of lives as a country doctor, friend, dad and papa. There was nothing he would not do for family and friends. Many people literally owe their lives to his being the man he was.

When he had free time, you would find Dr. Gadway at his farm, riding horses, on a snowmobile, flying in his Cessna Airplane or on his ham radio.

He leaves behind his wife, Judy (Colson) and son, RG (Ronald) married to Gina; and first wife Dolores (LaMountain) and daughter, Cynthia and husband, Craig Morgan, and pre-deceased daughter, Rhonda and husband Warren Blaisdell; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Penny, Joyce and Sandy; and was pre-deceased by two brothers, Donald and Wayne.

A memorial service will be held at the Red Door Church in South Royalton, Monday, Sept. 24, 2018, at 9 a.m. Dr. Gadway cared for his patients from cradle to grave and spent many sleepless nights with them as they were dying so it is appropriate that donations be made in his honor to the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice; mail donations to Office of Development Dartmouth Hitchcock, One Medical Drive, HB 7070, Lebanon, NH 03756.
