WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Roberta “Patty” Goodrich, 89, died Saturday November 3, 2018 at home following a long battle with cancer.

She was born October 14. 1929 in White River Junction, VT daughter of Archie and Bertha (Davis) Perkins. Patty graduated from Hartford High School and received her nurses training at Burbank Nursing School in Fitchburg, MA. She moved to California for a time before returning to Vermont to care for her grandmother. She was married to Donald T. Goodrich in 1956 and they moved to Pepperell, MA in 1959. While in Pepperell, Patty continued her nursing career at local nursing homes. The family moved to Bath, ME in 1977 where she worked as a school nurse at the Hyde School until they once again returned to Vermont in 1983. She worked at Hanover Terrace and Brookside nursing homes until starting at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center as an oncology nurse where she worked for ten years, until her retirement.

Patty enjoyed sewing and was an avid genealogist. She also loved to travel including trips throughout the continental United States, Alaska and internationally to North Africa, Europe and the Middle East and was looking forward to another trip to Labrador.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald, in 1984, a son, Timothy, in 1983 as well as her parents and a sister Ruth West.

She leaves her children Kelly O. Goodrich and wife Tracina of Westmoreland, NH, Donald Goodrich and wife Chris of Bowdoinham, ME, Rebecca Hinton and husband Dan of Ashburn, VA, Patricia Guitar of Enfield, NH and Caroline Elliott and husband Idris of White River Jct., VT; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brothers Richard Perkins of Hartford, VT and Robert Perkins of Dunellon, FL; sister Pauline “Sammy” Howe of Randolph, VT and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Jct., VT on Saturday November 10 from 1:30-2PM with a memorial service following at 2PM, all are welcome at a reception after the service. Committal will take place in the Hartford Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
