Robert A. “Bob” Johnson

Grafton, N.H. — Robert A. “Bob” Johnson, 94, died Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. He was born in Concord, Mass. to the late Arthur G. & Sadie (Mallinson) Johnson.

Bob grew up in Maynard, Mass. where he graduated from high school and enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in China in 1946. Once discharged he furthered his education at Tufts University and married Anna Andreassen. They lived in Acton and Carlisle, Mass. where they raised their family. Bob was a dedicated employee of Shawmut Bank of Boston, who began as a teller and retired from the position of Assistant Vice President. He and his wife then relocated to Grafton, N.H. While living in Grafton he worked as the part-time Postmaster.

He was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, and truly enjoyed the beauty of nature, hiking and bicycling. He also enjoyed trains and traveling with his wife to faraway places, including Siberia and the Lake District of Chile and Argentina.

Bob is survived by his wife of 69 years, Anna Johnson of Grafton, N.H., his three children, Marilyn Malmquist of Corinth, Vt., Roger Johnson and wife, Jeannette, of Manchester, N.H. and Karen Johnson of Grafton, N.H., a grandson Nathan Malmquist of Lebanon, N.H., nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Roland Johnson, and a grandson Shaun Gross.

Family and friends are invited to Bob’s memorial service at the Canaan United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017 at 2 p.m.
