THETFORD — The Clara Martin Center’s Color Splash 5K in May has been canceled.
The race, which had been slated for May 17 on Thetford Academy’s Woods Trail, was called off in light of statewide social distancing efforts. “We don’t want to put anyone at risk with such a large gathering,” the center said in an email statement.
The Clara Martin Center will reach out to runners already registered to prepare refunds or to apply fees toward next year’s Color Splash 5K, depending on interest.
For more information, contact the center at 802-222-4477.
NORWICH — The Upper Valley Trails Alliance has made several changes to its Passport to Winter Fun program as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
The UVTA encourages participants in the program to continue remaining physically active outdoors. As for taking advantage of incentive prizes for participating, all should check business websites or call before cashing in rewards.
Meanwhile, because of virus-induced school closures, the deadline for Back Flaps has been extended to April 10, with the grand prize raffle moved to April 13. Visit www.uvtrails.org for more information.
NORWICH — The Upper Valley Trails Alliance will again offer its High School Trail Corps program this summer.
The program is open to boys and girls in grades 8-12 seeking to spend time in the outdoors learning about trail maintenance, building technique and trail stewardship. Participants join UVTA staff and are paid for a week as they work on trail projects around the region.
Fun activities cap off each work day. For more information, visit www.uvtrails.org.
