The Quechee Hot Air Balloon, Craft and Music Festival, which traditionally draws thousands of people to the Upper Valley, has been postponed from mid-June until the weekend of Sept. 11-13 because of the COVID-19 outbreak, organizers said Thursday.
The Hartford Area Chamber of Commerce had planned to hold the event on Fatherโs Day weekend, June 19-21.
Last yearโs 40th anniversary festival drew record-breaking crowds, and many of the balloonists and vendors who had planned to participate in June have committed to the September date, according to a news release.
Cognizant that more families are homebound and wary of going to the transfer station, officials with the Rivendell Interstate School are offering use of their school dumpsters to residents who are 70 years or older.
โWith schools closed our dumpsters are not being used much. As a help to residents 70 or older we would like to offer to take up to one bag of trash per week,โ Rivendell officials said in a Facebook post.
The eligible residents or a designated person can drop off the bag at the Westshire, Samuel Morey or Rivendell Academy school dumpsters between 8 a.m. and noon during the week, Monday for people with last names beginning with the letters A-through-F; Tuesday, G-K; Wednesday, L-P; Thursday, Q-U; and Friday, V-Z. No recycling is allowed and people are asked to socially distance.
