TUNBRIDGE — Prouty support riders David Moynihan, of Lebanon, right, diagnoses a problem for Julia Surgenor, of Meriden, left, with the gears of her bike during the Prouty Ultimate as Ella Bankert, of Essex Junction, Vt., second from left, Greta Close, of Norwich, middle, and support rider Jeremy Kehoe, of Lebanon, second from right, watch in Tunbridge on Friday.
The Ultimate adds a 100-mile bike ride on Friday to the annual fundraiser’s Saturday events.
The 44th annual Prouty raised $10.1 million for cancer research and clinical trials, as well as patient and family support programs, according to a Saturday news release from Dartmouth Health. Of the money raised, $1 million is earmarked for the expansion of mental health services for patients and families at Dartmouth Cancer Center.
“Community support is absolutely critical in advancing cancer care. While we have always known this and are always grateful for our community’s compassion, we feel it now more deeply than ever,” Dr. Steven Leach, director of Dartmouth Cancer Center, said in the release. “Every dollar raised is valuable and ensures that our work can continue uninterrupted, regardless of external funding fluctuations.”
More than 4,300 participants and 750 volunteers participated in this year’s event.
