SOUTH ROYALTON — The White River is in need of a tuneup. The White River Partnership is calling for volunteers to help remove trash this Sunday along the waterway left by this summer’s heavy rain and floodwaters.

At 10 a.m., participants should meet at the Royalton Academy Building, 4266 VT Route 14, to grab trash bags, don gloves and sign a waiver. No advance RSVP necessary.

Flood-related damage and pollution is extensive, a news release from the nonprofit said. “In some areas, flood damages exceeded those experienced (in the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene),” the release said.

A cookout is scheduled for noon following the cleanup.
