SHARON — Following a police chase from Hartland to Sharon on Monday, Vermont State Police arrested a 50-year-old man who they say threatened to harm several people, including officers.

Robert Blanchard was charged with attempting to elude, grossly negligent operation and operating with a criminally suspended license, according to a news release from Vermont State Police.

The incident started around 12:40 p.m. when troopers tried to pull over Blanchard’s car on Quechee Road in Hartland after he allegedly made the threats, according to the release.

Police said Blanchard did not stop, and instead drove through Quechee and West Hartford onto Route 14 in Sharon, with police in pursuit. Police captured Blanchard when they set down tire strips that deflated his tires and cruisers boxed his vehicle into a field, the release said. No injuries were reported.

Blanchard is scheduled to appear in Windsor Superior Court on Dec. 29.
