RANDOLPH — Vermont State Police cited a 35-year-old Barre, Vt., man for DUI after he allegedly crashed into a flagpole at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Furnace Road on Memorial Day, according to a news release.

Troopers observed signs of impairment and arrested the man after responding to a report of a single-vehicle motor vehicle crash at the Randolph cemetery at about 7 p.m. Monday.

The Randolph Center Fire Department took down the flagpole at the cemetery’s entrance, which was significantly damaged in the crash.

The driver, who was injured in the crash, was first transported to Gifford Medical Center in Randolph, before being transferred to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon where he was reported to be in stable condition, the release said.

He was cited to appear in Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Chelsea at 8:30 a.m. July 31.
