Piermont voters adjust school budget, then pass it

PIERMONT — The approximately 30 voters at Tuesday night’s annual school meeting reduced the proposed school budget by about $50,000.

The reduction was for the elimination of two tuition payments that the board had included as a contingency should additional students move into the district, Town Moderator Joyce Tompkins said in a Thursday phone interview.

The reduction brought the proposed $2.7 million budget down to about $2.65 million.

Voters then added $50,000 to a expendable trust fund for tuition payments to be funded by the end of year fund balance, Tompkins said.
