UK Architects, a five-person architectural firm in Hanover, has hired H. Sloane Mayor as a senior architect.

Mayor formerly led her own Lebanon architectural practice, H. Sloane Mayor Architect PLLC, since 2009.

A Hanover resident, Mayor specializes in sustainable custom residential architecture and currently serves on the board of directors of The AVA Gallery and Art Center.

Chippers, the Woodstock tree care, lawn maintenance and land enhancement company, announced a new hire and three promotions:

Ryan Scelza, of Quechee, has joined Chippers as vice president of finance and administration. Scelza previously was an endowment and investment analyst at Dartmouth.

Gabriel Kellman is now manager plant health care division operations manager. Kellman, of South Royalton, had been maple division manager.

Sean Smith, a 17-year employee with the company, is now turf division operations manager. Smith, of Pomfret, most recently had been a turf division supervisor.

Cameron Couture has been named safety and training specialist. Couture, of Hartland, will lead training of Chippers employees at all three of the company's locations in safety procedures and practices.

The Vermont Army National Guard has honored Adam Cole, of Cole Electric in East Thetford, with two awards recognizing his unstinting support of employees who are Guard members.

Cole, of Thetford, was presented with the Patriot Award for the “unconditional support” he has given Daniel Rousseau, of West Lebanon, an apprentice electrician with Cole Electric who is simultaneously a sergeant in the Guard.

The Guard also presented Cole with the Above and Beyond Award for his “continuous support” to other Guard and Army Reserve members over the years, including Steve Towle, of Groton, Vt., a project manager who works for Cole Electric. Towle is a staff and platoon sergeant in the Guard.
