Hanover resident Jeff Shapiro, owner and chief executive of Upper Valley broadcaster Great Eastern Radio, was inducted into the Vermont Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame at the 24th annual awards banquet at the Hilton Burlington Lake Champlain hotel in Burlington.

Shapiro, who also took home the association’s Broadcaster of the Year award in 2013, was cited for “creating one of the largest regional radio groups in New England” and continuing “to display the passion and commitment of a true industry leader.”

Great Eastern Radio operates 16 radio stations, including Lebanon-based alternative format WWOD-FM, branded as 93.9 The River and classic rock WHDQ-FM, branded as Q106.

Elliott Hale has joined Bar Harbor Bank & Trust as a branch relation manager at the bank’s New London branch.

Hale, a New London resident, joins Bar Harbor from Maine health care system Northern Lights Health, where he was a workers’ compensation specialist. Earlier, Hale worked in insurance sales with Maine firms.

Dr. Joanne Conroy, chief executive of Dartmouth-Hitchcock, was one of six New Hampshire women selected from 68 nominees in the state to receive the 2019 Outstanding Women in Business Award from New Hampshire Business Review.

Conroy, named CEO of D-H in 2017, was selected for the award because of her “significant positive changes in the system, including a dramatic turnaround in its financial performance,” the publication said.

She and the other honorees will receive the award at a dinner ceremony to be held at the Manchester Country Club in Bedford, N.H., on Feb. 13.
