ORFORD — Voters picked one candidate in a contested Selectboard race and wrote in three candidates for open seats on the Planning Board during the first part of Town Meeting on Tuesday.

With 86 votes, Chase Kling was elected to a one-year seat on the Orford Selectboard, beating out Faith Knapp, who received 68 votes, and Peter B. Dooley, who got 36. Selectboard Chair John Adams, who ran unopposed, was re-elected to his position with 119 votes.

In the Planning Board race, voters wrote in Tom Thomson and Terry Martin for two three-year seats and Ann Green for a one-year seat.

Voting on the remaining articles, including the $1.16 million budget, will take place in-person at 1 p.m. on May 22 by the bandstand in the Town Common.

Chase Kling was elected to the Orford Selectboard. Orford will hold its floor portion of Town Meeting on May 22. An earlier version of this story misspelled Kling's last name and gave a wrong date for the May meeting.
