Town Meeting preview: Orford voters consider church building purchase

Article of note: A petitioned article asks whether voters will direct the Selectboard to consider purchasing the Orford Congregational Church building on Main Street at an amount to be determined by both parties.

Contested races: There are no contested races.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed operating budget is $1.3 million, which is up from the $1.2 million budget proposed last year. Other money items on the warrant include: $426,000 for the town’s capital reserve funds and $400,000, of which $100,000 would come from taxes, to reconstruct and repave Archertown Road hill and Archertown Road flat from the hill to Newcomb Bridge.

When, where and how to vote: Orford is scheduled to hold Town Meeting voting on Tuesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. at the Rivendell Academy gym, 2972 Route 25A. Polls will be open for the election of officers from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.
