Lebanon City Council Mum on City Manager Pick

Lebanon — After a nearly yearlong search, city officials say they’ve chosen a candidate to fill Lebanon’s vacant city manager position.

But the name of that candidate will remain a secret — possibly for several weeks — as the city completes its vetting process, Mayor Sue Prentiss said on Wednesday.

The City Council recently extended a conditional offer to the candidate, who is currently undergoing a final background, Prentiss said. A name is expected sometime around the holidays.

The top job in Lebanon has been empty since the City Council fired Dennis Luttrell in March 2016, after just six months on the job. Since then, longtime city employee Paula Maville has held the role on an interim basis.

The City Council formally kicked off the replacement process in January, hiring the Meredith, N.H.-based Municipal Resources Inc. to conduct the search for $17,000.
