NORTH HAVERHILL — A 45-year-old woman who told police that she was following God's commands when she was discovered hiding in a closet inside Chiplin Enterprises in West Lebanon last year will plead guilty or no contest to trespassing and other charges.
Heather Ainsworth, of North Haverhill, was found inside a warehouse of Chiplin Enterprises on Main Street last May after police responded to a late-night report of an intruder in one of the buildings of the Upper Valley-based property owner and management business.
When police found Ainsworth inside the warehouse she told them that she had entered through an unboarded opening because “she had been taught if she saw a place that she could crawl through that it was God's way of telling her to go there,” according to police, who said they also found Ainsworth in possession of cocaine.
According to an Acknowledgment of Rights filing entered into Ainsworth’s court docket, she will plead guilty or no contest to charges of possession of a controlled substance, criminal trespassing and contempt. Under the plea deal, Ainsworth will receive a suspended 12-month sentence in Grafton County House of Corrections and probation for two years on the drug possession charge.
Prison sentences on charges of criminal trespassing and contempt all have been suspended, but suspension can be revoked if Ainsworth does not comply with the sentencing requirements or if she falls out of compliance with her service plan, according to the filing.
Ainsworth’s plea and sentencing hearing is scheduled to take place in Grafton Superior Court on Jan. 31.
