No Skip’s Run in 2021

LEBANON — The COVID-19 pandemic has led organizers of the annual Skip Matthews Memorial Run to postpone their fundraiser for a second straight summer.

Skip’s Run, a four-mile out-and-back from Lebanon’s Colburn Park, has been held annually on Father’s Day. In a Thursday news release, the board that oversees the event said it wanted to be cautious, even with pandemic numbers improving.

“After reviewing the state of COVID infections, virus mutations and the vaccine rollout, the SMMR board decided to postpone the run until Father’s Day, 2022,” the board said. “Moving this year’s event to a later date was considered. Ultimately, the board chose to take a more conservative approach and plan to return next year with the dedicated volunteers and generous sponsors who have made the run a successful community event on behalf of brain tumor research for 16 years.”

The road race raises money for the brain tumor treatment program at the Norris Cotton Cancer Center.
