LACONIA, N.H. — The Upper Valley Nighthawks got back on track Sunday with a 7-4 win at the Winnipesaukee Muskrats.

The Nighthawks (8-4) led 4-3 going into the eighth inning when Muskrats (5-8) center fielder Joshua Rodriguez (Rutgers) hit a solo home run to tie the game in the bottom of the inning.

With one out in the top of the ninth, Nighthawks catcher Raphael Pelletier (Kansas State) walked. Then, shortstop Luca Trigiani (St. Joseph’s) hit a two-run homer — his second of the season — to take a 6-4 lead. Upper Valley tacked on one more when center fielder Brett Callahan (St. Joseph’s) doubled and came around to score on an error that allowed left fielder Andrew Walker (Xavier) to reach.

The Nighthawks had to come from behind early, as the Muskrats (5-8) went up 2-0 in the first inning. After each team scored a run in the fourth inning, the Nighthawks tied the game in the fifth and took a 4-3 lead in the sixth.

Trigiani’s go-ahead home run capped off his big game. He finished 3 for 4 with the homer, a double, two runs, two RBIs, and a stolen base. Third baseman Ronald Evans (UNC Wilmington) also hit a home run, and he went 2 for 4. Right fielder Alan Roden (Creighton) also recorded a multi-hit game.

Jack Keenan (Marist) started on the mound for the Nighthawks. He lasted five innings, surrendering three earned runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts. Jackson Haga (Liberty) threw a scoreless sixth inning in relief. Jake Gigliotti (Northeastern) finished out the final three innings, giving up one earned run on two hits and one walk with two strikeouts.

The Nighthawks will remain on the road for their next game today at the Sanford Mainers.
