NEWPORT — A fire that started in a wood stove spread tot he second floor before it was extinguished on Monday.

The homeowner was home at the time of the first, Steve Yannuzzi, Newport fire chief said. No injuries were reported.

“It’s going to take extensive work to get it to a livable condition,” he said.
