Lebanon — New York State, late last month, came to an agreement with a company that processes benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, formerly known as food stamps, at some farmers markets to extend the service through the growing season.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced his state’s agreement with the company, Austin, Texas-based Novo Dia Group, in a news release on July 27.

Novo Dia previously haannounced it would stop operating its Mobile Market plus software at the end of July. National Association of Farmers Market Nutrition Programs subsequently announced it would provide Novo Dia with funding so that it could continue operating through August.

Markets that use the service — including those in Lebanon, Norwich and Newport — now have more time to find a new processing service for next season.
