NEW LONDON — New London Hospital has opened a new “express care” service, the hospital announced in a news release.

The new service, which has a separate entrance and parking at the hospital, is designed to care for patients age 2 and older with sprains, skin rashes, tick bites, cuts and lacerations, colds and certain infections. Most insurance plans are accepted, including Medicare and Medicaid.

It is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.

“I believe this will be such an asset to our community,” John Cannon, a member of the New London Selectboard, said in the release. “It will ease the stress on the hospital’s emergency department and provide a convenient option for residents who don’t want to drive to Lebanon or Concord for urgent care.”

The clinic was initially slated to open in the summer, but was delayed by regulatory and supply chain issues, Tom Manion, New London Hospital’s CEO, said in an August email.

The new service differs from a stand-alone urgent care facility in that patients who arrive at the express care site but are in need of an emergency department-level of care can be easily transferred to the ER down the hall, he said.

Manion also said that the hospital’s “express care billing rates are set at a lower rate than our regular emergency room.”

Appointments are not required. More information is available online at or by calling 603-526-5155.
