NEW LONDON — The Selectboard has appointed a New London native to take over as town administrator next month, the board announced in a news release Wednesday.

Ashley Seybold will start June 5, taking the reins from Kim Hallquist, who is retiring after 14 years on the job. Hallquist will stay on through June.

For the past year, Seybold has been the chair of the New London Police Facilities Advisory Committee that was spearheading the most recent iteration of a longtime effort to upgrade the town’s police station.

“Ashley offers both a deep understanding of the town’s character and a strong passion for its future,” the release said. “Her leadership and expertise make her an exceptional choice to guide New London forward.”

Professionally, Seybold has worked in human resources and project management. She most recently served as a senior human resources operations manager at Activision Blizzard, a video game company owned by Microsoft.

Seybold’s starting salary is just over $123,000.
