Mascoma’s Kondi wins shot put title

DURHAM, N.H. — Mascoma High sophomore Georgia Kondi won the shot put at Sunday’s NHIAA Meet of Champions at the University of New Hampshire.

Kondi’s winning distance of 38 feet, 6 inches, was more than two feet farther than second place. Kondi also placed fifth in the discus at the meet that brings together the best track and field athletes from New Hampshire’s three high school divisions.

Other top finishes in Sunday’s meet were:

■ Hanover sophomore Lea Perreard, second in the 1,600 meters.

■ Newport junior Maddox Lovely, third in the 100 meter hurdles and long jump, and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles.

■ Second by the Hanover 4x800 relay team of Perreard, Megan Faris, Millie Larrick and Alice Bell.

For the boys, Newport senior Kyle Ashley was third in the javelin, Hanover senior Lucian Gleiser took fourth in the 800 and teammate Andrew Valentino, a junior, was sixth in the 3,200. Hanover's 4x800 relay team of Ben Groves, Ryan Faris, Isaac Novosad and Liam Kitchel finished fourth.
