ORFORD — Road resurfacing will begin this week in Orford, Lyme, Enfield and Canaan, according to a New Hampshire Department of Transportation news release.

The $3.7 million project will resurface seven road sections, totaling 31 miles.

The first section to be paved is on NH Route 25A in Orford. The work is weather-dependent and will require temporary daytime lane closures (6 a.m. to 6 p.m.) for at least two weeks. Drivers will encounter one lane of alternating traffic during work hours.

Resurfacing also will take place on Dame Hill Road in Orford, Main Street and Shaker Hill Road in Enfield, North Thetford Road in Lyme and Cardigan Mountain Road in Canaan.

The work will require temporary lane closures during the day. Lane reversals with alternating traffic flow will direct travelers around road closures.

Road users are encouraged to sign up for free, real-time construction and traffic-related messages from newengland511.org.

Pike Industries of Belmont, N.H., is the general contractor for the project, which is scheduled for completion in the fall.
