Rutland, Vt. — Michael Alan Drew, 50, of Rutland died unexpectedly May 9, 2016, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 9, 1965, in Abington, Pa.

Mr. Drew enlisted in the U.S. Navy then transferred into the U.S. Army serving as an Army Scout prior to his honorable discharge.

He relocated to Rutland in 1990 where he served as the Manager of Lum’s Restaurant until becoming the Assistant maintenance man at Foley Laundry and then an at home father for his son.

He loved being outdoors, camping and fishing.

Survivors include his son, Austin Drew of Rutland; his mother, Marie Hemenway of Wilder, Vt.; his father, Dennis Drew of S.C.; brother, Paul of West Fairlee, Vt.; his former longtime companion, Michele Jeffo of Rutland; step-son, Jesse Gero of Rutland; and his second family, Pete Gendron family of Orford, N.H.

A memorial service was held 1 p.m. Friday at the Aldous Funeral Home. The Rev. James Lawrence officiated.

Military honors were provided by the Rutland American Legion Post #31 Color Guard with the flag presented by Dick White and flag folders Sam Corburn, Bill Champine, Clayton Rockwell and Steve Kipp.

A reception followed at the Rutland Veterans of Foreign War hall.
