Mascoma to Begin Search for Next School Superintendent

West Canaan — Mascoma school officials soon will begin searching for an administrator to replace longtime Superintendent Patrick Andrew, who recently announced he’s vying for an open position in Moultonborough, N.H.

Andrew is one of two finalists being considered to the top school position in the Lakes Region town, he said on Thursday.

The job has a start date of July 1.

In response, the School Board has begun discussing the process for a superintendent search, Andrew said, adding those talks are still preliminary.

Andrew’s departure from the Mascoma Valley Regional School District was first announced in January, when he informed the School Board of his intention to step down within a year.

At the time, Andrew said moving to another district would allow him to focus more attention on family. A Canaan resident, his two sons are both enrolled at Mascoma Valley Regional High School.

The school district has been a great place to work for the past 20 years, he said, adding the community has been both “wonderful and supportive” during his time at the helm.
