Margaret “Peg” Johnson

Wilder, Vt. — Margaret “Peg” Johnson, 80, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, at her home in Wilder.

Peg was born Dec. 5, 1937 in Windsor, Vt., a daughter of William B. and Leola (Davis) MacLeay. She grew up in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School Class of 1955. Margaret was employed by Cone Machine Company in Windsor, Thermal Dynamics in Lebanon, Shepherd Corporation and for many years at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center both in White River Junction retiring in 2016 Peg also worked for many years at Classy Cuts & Tans as a receptionist. Peg was married to Clifford Johnson June 30, 1960 in Windsor where they made their home until 1966 when they moved to Hartland and later moving to White River Junction in 1976.

Peg is predeceased by two sisters, Marjorie Wiedeman and Mable Gately; four brothers Robert MacLeay, William MacLeay, Jesse MacLeay and Donald MacLeay.

She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Clifford Johnson; a daughter Marcia (Johnson) Landon and her partner Kevin Ellis; two sons Ron Johnson and Andy Johnson all of Wilder; two grandsons who were her pride and joy, Branson Landon and Bryce Landon; brother James MacLeay of Morristown, Tenn.; sister Shirley Pinney Charlestown, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday Oct. 28, 2018, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Knight Funeral Home in White River Junction. A private graveside service in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery will be held at a later date. Condolences may be expressed in an online guestbook at www.knightfuneralhomes.com.
