NEWPORT, N.H. — A 25-year-old Claremont man has been indicted on multiple counts of sexual assault of a woman he knew.

Sage Sundell is facing seven felony counts of aggravated sexual assault, according to indictments from the Sullivan County Grand Jury last month.

The charges stem from a number of alleged sexual assaults against the same woman beginning in November 2019, when the woman claimed she tried pushing Sundell off of her before he assaulted her, according to an indictment.

The next six alleged assaults had similar circumstances, with the woman claiming Sundell held her down when she refused to have sex with him, according to the indictments. The latest alleged assault occurred in July 2020, according to the indictment.

In addition to the sexual assault charges, Sundell is facing three counts of domestic violence, five misdemeanor counts of simple assault, as well as criminal mischief and stalking charges, according to a case summary. Affidavits were not available for any of his charges.

A judge ordered Sundell detained without bail in February, and his next court date is a motion hearing set for July 12.
