NEWPORT, N.H. — A 73-year-old Charlestown man has been indicted on charges of sexual assault involving two children, according to court documents.

John Anders is facing three counts of felony sexual assault for the alleged incidents, which happened between 2017 and 2020, according to indictments from the Sullivan County Grand Jury.

In one of the cases, Anders is accused of sexually assaulting a child who was under 13 multiple times between 2018 and 2020, according to one indictment. In another case, he’s accused of sexually assaulting a different child who was also younger than 13 multiple times between 2017 and 2020, according to a second indictment.

He was ordered released on personal recognizance during a hearing on April 2, and ordered to have no contact with the children, not consume any alcohol and not carry a firearm.

His next court appearance is a dispositional conference scheduled for June 17 in Sullivan County Superior Court.
