Town Meeting preview: Petitioned article to update property values on Lyme's warrant

Article of note: A petitioned article on the town warrant asks whether the town will require the Selectboard to perform a “Full Statistical Revaluation” for the tax year 2024 to update appraised property values to more accurately reflect the current market at a cost of $55,000 from the Property Reappraisal Capital Reserve Fund. The article is not supported by the Selectboard or the Budget Committee.

Contested races: There are three people running for two three-year terms on the School Board: Darin Knaus, Leigh Prince and Kristen Roth.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed school budget is $8.4 million, which is up from $7.8 million for the current year. A separate article asks whether voters will support hiring an architect to assess renovation needs and safety issues of the school building at a cost of $50,000. The proposed town operating budget is $2.76 million, which is up slightly from about $2.7 million last year.

When, where and how to vote: Lyme is scheduled to hold its annual school district meeting on March 9 at 6 p.m. in the Lyme School gym. Town Meeting is scheduled for March 14 at 9 a.m. in the Lyme School gym. Ballot voting will take place on March 14 from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. at the Lyme School.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Lyme’s Town Meeting has been postponed to Tuesday, March 21 at 6 p.m. at the Lyme School gym. Ballot voting is rescheduled to March 28, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.
