Lyme Town Meeting preview

Articles of note: A proposed zoning warrant amendment would exclude propane and natural gas tanks from a provision that outlaws underground fuel storage tanks. A petitioned warrant article asks whether voters support having two sessions for town meeting, one for ballot voting for officers and the other at a date set by the Selectboard for other business.

Contested races: There no contested races for School Board or Selectboard this year.

Budgets and spending articles: The proposed school operating budget is $9.4 million, up from last year’s budget of $8.8 million. The proposed town operating budget is $2.98 million, up from $2.82 million last year. A separate town warrant article seeks appropriations totaling $410,000 for Capital Reserve Funds and Expendable Trust Funds.

When, where and how to vote: The annual school meeting will take place on Thursday, March 6 at 6 p.m. Town Meeting will take place on Tuesday, March 11 at 9 a.m. in the Lyme community room/gymnasium at the Lyme School. Ballot voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on March 11.
