Lois Carrie Putnam Gillingham

North Hartland, Vt. — Lois Carrie Putnam Gillingham, 86, died early Sunday morning, June 10, 2018, in at the Jack Byrne Center for Palliative & Hospice Care in Lebanon, N.H.

She was born Nov. 11, 1931, a daughter of G. William and Marion G. (Corliss) Putnam in Piermont, N.H.

She graduated from Bradford Academy in Bradford, Vt. in 1949 and earned and Associate in Science Degree from Becker Junior College in Worcester, Mass. in June 1951.

She was married to Kenneth C. Gillingham Sept. 6, 1953 and remained happily married to him for 48 years until he passed away Nov. 9, 2001.

Lois was an automotive accountant and office manager for over 35 years at several different auto dealerships in the Upper Valley, retiring in 1990.

She and her husband enjoyed traveling, particularly to the Caribbean and Las Vegas. She also enjoyed her volunteer work at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in White River Jct. She was an avid reader and loved working in her flower gardens, knitting and craft projects.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey of North Thetford and Randy of West Hartford; a granddaughter Jen; three grandsons, Scott, Brian and Tyler; a great-granddaughter, Ayva; a sister, Jean Young of Essex Junction and Sarasota, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Jasper Putnam in 1998.

At her request there will be no public services. A private committal will take place in the Hartland Village Cemetery.
